Loadshedding Blues

Eskom announced recently that it will implement stage 2 scheduled power blackouts. Stage 2 load shedding is the process of deliberately reducing the national load by up to 2 000 MW through scheduled blackouts to avoid tripping the whole system due to too much demand and too little supply. Since the implementation of the scheduled blackouts, we have had an influx of calls in the support centre regarding crashes that have occurred due to these blackouts. We urge everyone to invest in a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). A UPS provides temporary emergency power to computer(s) where the input power source or main power fails. Please ensure that during the time of load shedding, the regular "Quick Backup" option is used at least twice a day to ensure a recent fallback point. We also highly...

VAT Increase from 14% to 15% in South Africa

As you may be aware, the Government of South Africa has increased it's VAT Rate from 14% to 15%

This Change will be in effect as from the 1st of April 2018.

In Order to facilitate all Revelation Accounting Software users to change to the new VAT Code, we have extended our Office hours as Follow:

  • Thursday 29 March 2018 from 8h30 till 18h00 .
  • Tuesday 3rd April 2018 from 6h00 till 16h00 .

AVERAGE vs LATEST Cost

I am amazed at how many People are still battling with Basic Accounting issues in this modern age. This week, our support Centre was inundated with questions about the difference between Average and Latest Cost, and when to use which. In this article I hope to shed some light on the subject.
